		The Ecole Polytechnique Universitaire de Marseille, Polytech' Marseille, has 800 students in its three years of engineering cycles. Students from preparatory classes and having studied for 2 years in further education (Associate's Degree, Technical University Diploma) are recruited during nationwide competitions. Its area of action : which has a national and international vocation, involves both initial and permanent training, training through research, and research. Its strong point : it offers three branches of training which are based on high-level generalist teaching. Its aim : to offer a large range of openings in all the major areas of activity, to integrate networks of excellence and to develop a skills center in the fields of microelectronics, telecommunications, mechanics, energetics, industrial engineering and information technology. What is a Polytechnic University School ? (Ecole Polytechnique Universitaire)

A Polytechnic University School aims to improve the effectiveness, visibility and attractiveness of engineering courses on a national and international scale, and is the legal basis for merging several engineering schools to form a university.

To have the status of a Polytechnic University School it must :

. Be made up solely of engineering branches for introductory, continuous, alternating and apprenticeship training
. Cover a large range of subjects and encourage interdisciplinarity
. Have a standard national name : "Ecole polytechnique universitaire de..."
. Become part of the network of "Polytechnic University Schools"
. Be the only Engineering University School bearing this name in the same town. No other university may share the same name. It has educational and financial independence
